Product & Getting Started
What is Autaxo?
Autaxo is a cloud-based dealer management system (DMS) for independent used-car dealers and small to midsize dealerships in Germany. The software brings digital vehicle files, mobile.de and AutoScout24 integrations, e-signature contracts, invoicing, §25a VAT margin scheme logic, DATEV transfer through Buchungsdatenservice, and AI assistant Carlo into one platform. It is built and hosted in Germany, runs in a browser, and intentionally does not include a workshop module.
Who is Autaxo designed for?
Autaxo is designed specifically for independent used-car dealers, small to midsize dealerships, and vehicle-only trading businesses in Germany, including importers and EU or export specialists. It is ideal for businesses that want to replace Excel sheets, Word contracts, and separate invoicing software with one end-to-end system. Autaxo intentionally does not cover workshop processes.
How long does onboarding take?
Onboarding is usually complete within one to three days. You can import your entire vehicle inventory from mobile.de in minutes, and master data, your logo, and templates are generally set up within half a day. The Autaxo Academy provides video training for every module.
Is there an Autaxo app for iOS and Android?
Yes. The native Autaxo app is available for iOS in the App Store and Android in the Play Store. It is included with an Autaxo subscription at no extra charge and works with your existing Autaxo account. It is tailored to mobile workflows: add vehicle photos directly to a vehicle file, scan documents, and scan a VIN to create a vehicle quickly. The complete DMS remains available in the browser on Windows, Mac, iPad, tablets, and smartphones.
How many users or locations can I add?
Unlimited. Autaxo is built for growth: you can add any number of users, sites, and branches without the price increasing per seat or location. Autaxo specializes in small and midsize dealerships that want to scale.
Pricing & Contract
How much does Autaxo cost?
Autaxo starts at €49 per month, excluding VAT. There are three DMS plans: One (€49/month or €559/year), Pro (€79/month or €899/year), and Business (€149/month or €1,599/year). They mainly differ in the monthly allowance of credits for AI vehicle images. You can test Autaxo free for an unlimited period without a credit card. Plans can be canceled monthly, with no setup fee or hidden costs.
Is the trial really free?
Yes. You can test Autaxo free for an unlimited period without a credit card. Some trial features are restricted. For example, invoices carry a watermark and are not ready to send. There are no automatic follow-up charges. You are only directed to payment when you actively unlock the full feature set with a monthly subscription.
Can I cancel Autaxo monthly? What happens to my data?
Yes. You can cancel Autaxo monthly with one click in your account. After canceling, you can continue to view your data, including vehicle files, receipts, invoices, and DATEV exports, in read-only mode for the ten-year GoBD retention period required by German digital bookkeeping rules, or download it as a structured export.
Taxes, DATEV & Accounting
Does Autaxo support the VAT margin scheme under §25a UStG?
Yes. This is a core feature. The tax logic automatically identifies cases under §25a, standard VAT taxation, intra-Community supplies and acquisitions, and exports to non-EU countries. It calculates the margin under §25a(3) UStG (German VAT Act), adds the required invoice wording 'Gebrauchtgegenstände/Sonderregelung' ('second-hand goods/special scheme'), and maintains the vehicle trade register required by §25a(6) UStG.
How does the DATEV transfer work?
The standard method is DATEV Buchungsdatenservice, DATEV's cloud booking data service. Posting entries and document images are transferred directly to your accounting firm's DATEV environment, with no CSV files to send and no manual import. Setup takes minutes using the advisor and client numbers. A classic DATEV EXTF export is also available as a CSV file. Supported charts of accounts are SKR03, SKR04, and SKR51.
What if my accounting firm does not use DATEV?
That is not a problem. DATEV EXTF and CSV exports are the de facto standard in Germany and can be imported by nearly all widely used accounting systems, including Agenda, Addison, Stotax (Stollfuß/NWB), Simba, and Lexware Office. Your accounting firm simply selects the DATEV import for a DATEV-format booking batch in its software and continues working as usual.
Is the vehicle trade register maintained automatically?
Yes. Autaxo automatically maintains the legally required Kfz-Handelsbuch, a German vehicle trade register, under §25a(6) UStG (German VAT Act) and §§143 and 144 AO (German Fiscal Code). It records every purchase, sale, margin, and VIN link and is available at any time as an audit-ready export file.
Does Autaxo support e-invoices (XRechnung and ZUGFeRD)?
Yes. Autaxo creates and receives electronic invoices in XRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats. Since January 1, 2025, all domestic B2B recipients in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices. Autaxo meets this requirement and provides archiving that complies with GoBD, Germany's rules for keeping digital books and records.
Does Autaxo replace my tax advisor?
No, but Autaxo makes the work much easier for both of you. The document trail, §25a logic, DATEV transfer through Buchungsdatenservice, and vehicle trade register are already prepared within the operating workflow. This reduces follow-up questions and accounting costs. Tax advice remains your tax advisor's responsibility; Autaxo provides clean preparatory work.
AI, Integrations & Website
How does AI assistant Carlo work?
Carlo is Autaxo's built-in AI assistant, not a generic chatbot. It scans vehicle registration documents and identity cards, identifies §25a, EU, and export tax cases, suggests preliminary account assignments, checks plausibility, analyzes your dealership data ('How is my business doing?'), and proactively flags required documentation. Its responses are based primarily on your own data in Autaxo, not external market data.
Which sales platforms can I connect?
Autaxo provides a two-way connection to mobile.de for import, export, centralized management, and automatic deactivation after a sale, and it exports to AutoScout24. Changes in Autaxo are synchronized automatically through push and update. We are happy to evaluate additional platforms on request.
Can I import my inventory from mobile.de?
Yes. During onboarding, you can import your complete inventory from mobile.de into Autaxo in minutes, including photos, descriptions, and equipment lists. Changes are then pushed directly from Autaxo back to mobile.de and AutoScout24.
Do I get my own dealership website?
Yes, at no charge. Every paying customer receives an integrated inventory page at autaxo.de/haendler/[Name] with a live connection to vehicles in Autaxo. Full dealership websites on your own domain are also available as an optional service.
Data, Security & Support
Does Autaxo comply with the GDPR and GoBD?
Yes. Autaxo is operated in ISO 27001-certified data centers in Frankfurt, Germany, and meets the requirements of the GDPR and GoBD, Germany's principles for keeping digital books and records. All entries are stored in a tamper-evident manner, and complete audit trails are maintained.
Do I need to install software or use a VPN?
No. Autaxo is 100% cloud-based and runs directly in Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox, with no local installation or VPN. You can use it on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android tablets, and smartphones.
What support does Autaxo offer?
Support is included with every plan: email and chat support, WhatsApp at +49 155 651 280 70, and the contact form. We generally respond within a few hours during business hours. The Autaxo Academy also offers video training for every module.
